How and why we share personal data
The accuracy and security of the information held by the Vulnerability Registration Service (VRS) is extremely important to us. Personal data is only shared where there is a lawful basis to do so under data protection legislation. These lawful bases include the following:
Consent – Individuals can register themselves with the VRS through our Consumer Portal. By doing so, they provide their consent for their information to be shared for the purposes of the service. Individuals can update or delete their information at any time through the Portal.
Legal authority to act on someone’s behalf – Data may be shared where another individual or organisation has the legal authority to act on someone’s behalf, for example where a Power of Attorney, Court of Protection order, or other legal authority is in place.
Consent provided via an organisation – An organisation may share data with the VRS where it has obtained the individual’s consent to do so on their behalf.
